OLIVE OIL, LIQUID GOLD
The Mediterranean Diet has been catalogued by the UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
It is characterized by an abundance of vegetables, breads, pastas, salads, fruits and nuts, the consumption of fish, free-range poultry, dairy products and eggs, small quantities of red meat and moderate amounts of wine. Olive oil, however, is responsible for many of its benefits.
The prestige of olive oil as a food is the consequence of the quality of the nutrients it possesses. It is an excellent type of fat, the most natural, the most dietetic, the most flavourful and, as such, is often considered “liquid gold”.
